Equity Analysts
Equity Analysts will be assigned a sector to cover and will directly report to the respective Portfolio Manager (PM). Analysts will conduct research within their sector, perform detailed security analysis, and assist the PM by evaluating investment recommendations. Analysts will also help compile information to create investment proposals and presentations. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in finance, demonstrate a proactive approach to learning, and have knowledge and/or experience with security analysis.

Student Requirements

Be a current Bachelor of Commerce student in the Asper School of Business.

Register for courses as a full time or part time student during the Fall 2025, Winter 2026, and Fall 2026 semesters.

Have a minimum of 60 credit hours completed at the time of application.

Have a minimum GPA of 3.50.

Have completed the following courses with a minimum grade of B+:

FIN 2010 – Introduction to Finance + completed the Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) Course

One additional finance course of your choosing

Enroll and successfully complete FIN 4230 in the Winter 2025 semester.
Skills Required
Experience working with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
Responsibilities

Developing in-depth knowledge and understanding of their assigned sector and the companies within it.

Analyzing company financial statements, annual reports, MD&A’s, earnings conference calls, and any other relevant information.

Creating financial models and performing various methods of security analysis.

Preparing equity research reports.

Assisting the PM with preparing and presenting investment recommendations to the investment committee.

Reviewing, analyzing, and providing feedback on investment proposals to other sector groups.

Staying informed on relevant macroeconomic events and sector-related news.

Assisting the PM with compiling quarterly financial reports.
